Offering Comprehensive Drug Rehabilitation Services
Our Tucson rehabilitation clinic offers short and long-term opioid addiction treatment services with methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone. These programs include:
OUTPATIENT DETOXIFICATION: The detoxification program consists of prescribed decreasing methadone doses along with counseling services and treatment planning. This service provides a course of treatment to stabilize from the client’s drug use and have the opportunity to engage in counseling services. Upon the day of admission, a history and physical exam is completed, along with laboratory work. The tapering course of medication can last between 31 and 180 days. During the course of treatment, additional meetings with the counselor are scheduled to review progress of treatment plans and develop an aftercare plan.
MAINTENANCE SERVICES: Methadone maintenance service is offered as an ongoing opioid addiction rehabilitation program. The client is screened for admission eligibility per State and Federal regulations. On the day of intake, the client will have a history and physical examination for admission, as well as laboratory work. Once on the program, a Biological, Psychological, and Social Assessment is completed as well as an initial treatment plan. A primary counselor is then assigned.
Progress in the areas of health, vocation, education, family relations, psychological state and substance abuse are regularly reviewed for achievement and to further develop action plans. Tapering is planned collaboratively by the medical and counseling staff to reinforce the lifestyle changes achieved.
Drug testing is done on a random, monthly basis. More testing can be ordered, if necessary, for additional monitoring of rehabilitation goals. Interventions, both medical and counseling, can be initiated using the drug test results.
At the dispensing station, clients are evaluated to determine daily dosing appropriateness. Signs of drug or alcohol use are assessed. Clients may be referred to the medical practitioner for further evaluation.
PHASE Program: The phase program consists of a series of levels with activities to assist the client in their rehabilitation plan. The phase program will graduate clients from one phase level to the next upon completion of tasks and activities. Take home status for maintenance clients will be parallel to phase level. Counseling and treatment planning are integrated into the phase level.
Goals of the Phase Program include:
- Development of a peer support network
- Acquisition of knowledge and skills for recovery
- Reduce harmful effects of drug and alcohol use
- Relapse prevention
- Improve physical and mental health
- Progress can be measured
- Areas needing attention are clearly identified
The client will be actively engaged in treatment planning relevant to their needs and stage of recovery.
EXTENDED TAKE HOME PROGRAM: Clients who have achieved the higher level of take homes medication privileges are eligible for the extended take home rehabilitation program. A 28-day medication supply is given to the client. This program permits more time for the client to engage in positive lifestyle and recovery activities apart from the clinic site. Drug testing and verification of medication supply are part of the system.
COUNSELING: Maintenance rehabilitation program participants are assigned a primary counselor. General case management issues are handled by the counselor. Crisis intervention, general counseling and more in depth therapy are also followed by the assigned counselor. Some treatment modalities include: Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Relapse Prevention, Contingency Management, Peer/Recovery Support, and others. Counseling services are done in 1 on 1 sessions or in group therapy. Post treatment counseling can also be arranged for follow up and aftercare. The Addiction Severity Index, a comprehensive assessment tool is utilized at the beginning of services for treatment planning, counseling focus and indicators of outcome.
PEER/RECOVERY SUPPORT: Guided by one’s own lived experience with addiction treatment services, our peer support specialists are here to offer support, guidance, mentoring, resource connections, and education. Our peer support specialists facilitate recovery groups and advocate for our clients. Peer support is designed to provide a model example of recovery to help encourage and motivate clients towards their own recovery.
MEDICAL SERVICES: An annual physical examination and laboratory work is required for all continuing clients on methadone/buprenorphine maintenance services. TB testing is done on an annual basis as well as upon admission to services.
LABORATORY SERVICES: The clinic offers on site laboratory specimen collection and results reporting. Specific laboratory tests are required by State and Federal regulations. Other tests may be ordered by the physician as necessary. Laboratory results are noted for follow up at clinic or through a personal physician.
